Medications & Immunizations

The Student Health Service (SHS) has a small dispensary that provides convenient access to a range of prescription medications, including oral contraceptives and emergency contraception. If these medications are prescribed by one of our SHS clinicians, you will be able to pick it up at SHS. If there is a charge applied, we accept cash, check or credit card. For refills, please arrive at least 30 minutes before closing to ensure no delay in receiving your prescription.

Immunizations offer protection against illnesses that can disrupt your life and affect your health. SHS provides the immunizations (vaccines) required for the health and safety of our students and patients. Detailed preregistration requirements are available here. Additional fees for immunizations may apply.

To receive immunizations, come to SHS at 100 Haven Avenue, Tower 2, 2nd Floor. One of our nurses will assist you.

According to New York State law, all full-time and part-time Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) students are required to be immune to measles (rubeola), mumps, and rubella, and to sign the Meningococcal Response Form. This form must be submitted via the online portal. For more information on the vaccine, visit the CDC's Meningococcal Vaccination page.

In the fall, check our home page for information about receiving your flu shot.
