COVID-19 Health Advisory
CUIMC students who have concerns about symptoms or potential exposure are encouraged to call SHS at 212-305-3400 (24/7) to speak with a nurse who can provide additional guidance.
Please note: If you have the Aetna Columbia Student Health Insurance Plan, you have national and international coverage. Please visit the CUIMC Aetna student health insurance plan website for more details, and contact CUIMC Student Health Service for questions about referrals.
Please take these critical measures to keep the virus from spreading further:
Stay home if you are sick.
If you are not feeling sick, stay home as much as possible and practice social distancing. Maintain at least 6 feet from others, when possible.
Practice essential prevention hygiene: frequent handwashing, coughing/sneezing into your elbow; sanitizing high-touch surfaces; avoiding touching your face with unwashed hands; waving/elbow bumping instead of shaking hands; do not share food or drink.
Use a face covering when you are in public. Individuals who need to leave home for essential reasons are required (New York) or recommended (other areas in the US) to cover their mouth and nose with a cloth while in public settings where physical distancing measures are difficult to sustain (to obtain food or medicine, to go to work, on public transit, etc.). Essential workers on campus should wear a face mask, provided by the University. The U.S. Surgeon General has a video on how to make a cloth face cover. Please wash this face cover after every use.
