Dr. Joel Stein, Chief of the Department of Rehabilitation and Regenerative Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia/Cornell, participated in a Congressional Briefing in the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center in Washington, D.C. on October 6, 2016.

Dr. Stein, Vice Chair of the Guidelines Panel, and other members of the Guidelines Panel presented the new stroke guidelines set by the American Heart Association(AHA)/American Stroke Association(ASA). These guidelines are the first evidence-based guidelines that focus on rehabilitation and recovery of stroke survivors.

In reference to the guidelines, Dr. Stein said "Comprehensive coordinated, inter-professional care is essential in stroke rehabilitation, and these guidelines capture those important principles to outline how we can best treat and help patients recover from stroke."
