  • Jesse Ross

    • Third Year Fellow

    Hometown: Flomaton, Alabama

    Medical School: UAB

    Residency: UCLA

What are your favorite things about the fellowship? "I love this program for many reasons! I was first attracted by the numerous opportunities to be exposed to all aspects of Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine and to learn one on one from national/international leaders in every field. This was also compounded by Columbia's work internationally and the opportunities for fellows to get involved in a global environment. Fellows also have the opportunity to take classes at the nearby Mailman School of Public Health. Since arriving, I have gotten to experience not only these things firsthand, but also the very intentional, and focused, mentorship that began on day one. Fellow mentorship and education are priorities at Columbia, and we benefit immensely from this. Our leadership has managed to provide endless opportunities and support for academics and research without sacrificing any aspect of clinical training. Indeed clinical and procedural training are prioritized during the first two years at Columbia. All this, while emphasizing camaraderie amongst the fellows and faculty. It's an incredible place to be! "

What do you love about New York City? "Admittedly, I'm still figuring out everything I love about NYC. So far, I love bike rides along the Hudson, runs through Central Park, exploring the different neighborhoods, innumerable incredible restaurants, late-night rooftops, midweek salsa parties, the changing seasons, and living in an intersection for the world, with so many different cultures represented. "
