Discarding Appliances, Computers, and Other Electronics

We can remove and discard appliances, computers, or other equipment upon request. If you need furniture removed, see Moving and Discarding Services.

Examples of appliances and equipment that we can remove include:

  • Washers and dryers
  • Stoves and ovens
  • Dishwashers
  • Trash compactors
  • Specialty lab equipment
  • Microwaves
  • Refrigerators and freezers*
  • Air conditioners*
  • Drinking fountain cooling units*

* In accordance with EPA regulations, Facilities Management and Campus Services will facilitate the proper removal and disposal of all refrigerants. There is no charge for such disposal.

We are not responsible for information stored on hard drives. Take the appropriate measures to remove information before contacting us. For more guidance on how to securely remove data, contact CUMC IT.

Need a repair instead?

We can repair cooling systems such as refrigerators, air conditioners, and freezers. We can also connect coffee makers and water coolers to water lines. However, we do not repair certain appliances such as microwaves or coffee makers; we only replace. If you have any questions, please include them in your work request.

Cost

There's no charge for the removal of large appliances, computers, or other electrical equipment. We only conduct removals during normal business hours.

There is a charge to repair cooling systems such as refrigerators, air conditioners, and freezers. Charges for repairs depend on the appliance.
