Safety Topic: Personal Preparedness - Disaster "GO BAG"

A disaster GO BAG is simply a collection of basic items you and your family may need in an emergency. So, if you have to leave your home at a moment’s notice, you will have essential items ready to take with you since you will probably not have time to search for the supplies you need.

You may need to survive on your own after an emergency. This means having your own food, water, medications and other supplies in large enough quantity - for everyone in your family - to last at least 72 HOURS.

Assemble your kit NOW using the items below recommended by Facilities Management staff participating in the recent Emergency Management Training Classes:

-Food (energy bars, canned food, other non perishable food)

-Can Opener

-Water, one gallon per person, per day

-Flashlight with Extra Batteries

-Battery Powered Radio with Extra Batteries

-First Aid Kit

-Medication/s (for you and your family)

-Blankets

-Whistle (to signal for help)

-Change of Clothes

-Candles and Matches

-Infant Formula and Diapers (if you have an infant)

-Cash $ (in small denominations)

-Tent

-Toothpaste/Toothbrush

-Soap

-Trash Bags

-Dust Masks

-Important Family Documents (copies of credit cards, insurance policies)

BE PREPARED!

Remember to prepare one GO BAG for each family member and make sure each has an ID tag. Keep them where they are easy to find should you have to grab and go!
