  • Tanya Kent-James

    Director, Office of Housing Services

    For nearly a decade, Tanya Kent-James has provided housing assistance and accommodations for more than 1,300 students and faculty members each year while overseeing and maintaining 1.1 million square feet of housing real estate at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. To support tenants, she leads the Resident Advisors program and has led strategic improvements to enhance communication with on-campus residents. She directly supports all new and existing faculty members who are in need of housing, either through Columbia University faculty housing or in open-market real estate.

    Before her arrival at CUIMC, Tanya was the associate director of Operations Administration for WORT, a nonprofit based in 37 countries that assists more than 300,000 foreign students in specializing in technology in their respective countries.

    Mail Room Assistant, Office of Housing Services

    Neliana "Nelly" Acevedo has been a part of the Columbia University Irving Medical Center community since 2002. As the mail room assistant, she ensures that all mail and packages addressed to Bard Hall, Georgian, and 154 Haven Ave. residents are properly logged and received in a timely manner. She also manages the Office of Housing Service's relationship with various mail carriers.

    Nelly previously worked in the College of Physicians and Surgeons Mail Room Services, where she logged and distributed mail and packages to all departments and offices within the building.

  • Noemi Bueno

    Housing Leasing Manager, Office of Housing Services

    Noemi Bueno has been a key member of the Office of Housing Services team since 1997 and currently oversees housing assignments for students and postdoctoral candidates. She works closely with her team and the leasing agent to keep students informed about housing procedures and processes throughout the year.

    Noemi has an open-door policy for students and staff and warmly welcomes anyone who may have a question or concern about the housing process. Each year, she enjoys being part of Commencement and seeing students who once entered on-campus housing graduate and receive their degrees. She holds an associate degree in Applied Sciences-Computer Programming from LaGuardia Community College.

  • Rocío Calixto

    Leasing Agent, Office of Housing Services

    Rocío Calixto ensures that prospective students and postdocs receive detailed information regarding accommodations and leasing procedures. She also conducts all lease signings at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. A native New Yorker, she is always eager to welcome CUIMC community members to Washington Heights. She loves interacting with tenants and enjoys getting to know them and their stories. Rocío also assists students and CUIMC affiliates interested in off-campus housing, providing them with housing listings and connecting them to local brokers.

    Rocío joined CUIMC in 2011 as a service representative for Facilities Management and Campus Services. She transitioned to the Office of Housing Services in late 2014. She previously worked as a senior loan officer with BBVA-Bancomer Hipotecaria Nacional Mexicana and holds a B.A. in international studies and human services from Mount Saint Mary College.

  • Marco Camacho

    Building Manager, Office of Housing Services

    A specialist in customer service and satisfaction, Marco Camacho has built a strong career during his 33 years of experience with Columbia University. A motivated self-starter, Marco evolved from his initial roles as security security and laborer to serve as a Facilities Management supervisor and now building manager for the Office of Housing Services.

    In Housing, Marco manages the upkeep of the many residential buildings that house members of the CUIMC community. He hires, supervises, and trains personnel as they work together to operate and maintain the buildings. He inspects and assesses needs for repairs and improvements on an ongoing basis. Each year, as tenants graduate and new tenants move in, Marco plays a pivotal role in helping to coordinate the process and minimize the disturbance to current tenants. Marco’s priorities are customer satisfaction, efficiency, and attention to detail. Both customers and colleagues can look to him to work collaboratively with the Housing team and take the lead in resolving challenges.

  • Amarilis García

    Administrative Assistant, Office of Housing Services

    As the administrative assistant for the Office of Housing Services, Amarilis García is responsible for Bard Hall housing assignments, consisting of 295 units, and semesterly billing. In addition to assisting students with room renewal, early arrivals, and room transfers, she also arranges short-term accommodations to visiting students and Columbia University Irving Medical Center affiliates and housing for the Summer Health Professions Education Program. Amarilis manages Bard Hall events reservations for CUIMC departments and student groups and works closely with CUIMC departments to ensure proper billing for short-term and summer accommodations and event reservations.

    Amarilis joined CUIMC in 1987 and loves serving as a resource for students with housing inquiries.

  • Raymond Jimenez

    Assistant Director, Office of Housing Services

    Raymond Jimenez oversees the day-to-day operations for the Office of Housing Services. To ensure an optimal on-campus residential experience at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, he regularly collaborates with Capital Project Management, supporting projects within Housing, Engineering, the Vagelos Education Center, Georgian Building, Compliance, Custodial Services, Public Safety, and Finance.

    Ray has extensive experience in New York City real estate management and construction. In 1998, he joined Columbia University Facilities, serving as associate director of Graduate Housing Operations at the Morningside campus. He began his current role in 2016. Raymond is currently pursuing an MPA, with a concentration in Advanced Management and Finance, from Columbia University.  He holds a MS in construction administration from Columbia University and a BS in humanities and justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

  • Pedro Montalvo

    Administrative Aide, Office of Housing Services

    As the front desk representative for the Office of Housing Services, Pedro Montalvo is responsible for all receptionist and clerical duties. He welcomes guests, answers questions, and addresses concerns. Pedro also manages the work requests for apartments and rooms that students place through the online work order system. After closing out work orders, he surveys students to gather compliments and concerns.

    In his free time, Pedro is a boxing trainer and has trained more than 10 New York Metro boxing champions.

  • Abraham Pagan

    Manager, Office of Housing Services

    Abraham Pagan has more than 25 years of experience in residential and mixed-use property management for major academic and health care institutions. Since joining Columbia University Irving Medical Center's Office of Housing Services as a manager in 2009, he has overseen repairs and maintenance operations for residential and office tenants. He is also part of the Facilities Emergency Management Operations Team. Before joining CUIMC, Abe worked at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, Mount Sinai Medical Center, and One Hunters Point and One Hunters View in Long Island City.

    Abraham Pagan
  • Maritza Pierret

    Administrative Aide, Office of Housing Services

    Maritza Pierret oversees all financial duties for the Office of Housing Services. She works closely with Columbia University Irving Medical Center's Finance and Administration and Columbia University Procurement to process all requisitions, invoices, and vendor payments. She assists the housing director with the Resident Advisors program and processes all their reimbursements. Maritza is also in charge of summer housing for students who stay on campus after their original contracts expire. She attends to walk-ins, phone calls, and emails from current and prospective students.

    Maritza has been at CUIMC for over 18 years. She loves taking walks during her lunch break, and is an avid reader.

    Administrative Assistant, Office of Housing Services

    Nancy Rodriguez has been with the Office of Housing Services since 1987. As an administrative assistant, she oversees the daily operation of Bard Athletic Center's membership and financial records. She processes records of all apartment housing vacancies and financial front-end payroll. Nancy also maintains the office supply inventory and provides any other necessary administrative support. She enjoys exploring the city, hiking, photography, attending festivals and concerts, and catching up with friends.
