Earlier this year, we began renovating Alumni Auditorium. Once completed, the renovated space will offer a welcoming glass façade, an airy lobby, and enhancements to the auditorium. We anticipate that renovations will be completed in summer 2018.

Below are project updates and highlights of what to expect going forward:

  • Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, Alumni Auditorium will reopen and be available for classes and events; the auditorium lobby, however, will remain closed and unavailable for use until the project has been completed in summer 2018. Access routes to the first and second floors have been modified. Please look out for directional signage in the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons Building and the William Black Building. When planning upcoming events in the auditorium, event planners should keep in mind that the auditorium lobby is not available for food setup or receptions. Furthermore, there is a strict no food/no drink policy for the interior of the auditorium.
  • The temporary façade enclosure will remain in place until the new glass façade is complete.
  • The sidewalk bridge on 168th Street in front of Alumni Auditorium will remain in place for the duration of the project. Temporary sidewalk/street barriers, directional signs, and modified access routes will remain in place to safely redirect pedestrian traffic. There will also be periods of intermittent construction-related noise.

We will continue to provide progress updates as the renovation efforts continue.
