yoga program - summer 2007
The Center for Student Wellness offers a number of yoga classes throughout the year at reduced cost to students - only $5 per class. Our yoga faculty is made up of highly qualified and skilled individuals, each bringing their own unique voice to the practice of yoga.

What types of yoga classes are offered? (click on the instructors name to read thier bio)
Hatha Yoga: Increase and hone your energies with the ancient practice of Hatha Yoga. We move our bodies (with controlled breath and alignment) in different Yoga postures to build internal heat and Prana. Classic Asanas (poses) help us stretch physically and mentally during the workout. Regardless of your shape, size or level of practice, students are encouraged to explore their challenges with guidance to develop inner awareness. Guided deep relaxation helps us to de-stress our mind to engage life and work with renewed balance and peace. Instructor Charles Lam. (summer 2007: this class is not being offered )
Vinyasa Yoga: This class welcomes all levels of students to come and explore the benefits of this age old practice and offers many modifications making it accessible to all. Increase your flexibility, strength, stamina and focus while learning to laugh at yourself and take some risks. Students can expect a challenging vinyasa flow, arm and leg balances, an introduction to inversions and plenty of restorative mat time. You will leave this class feeling rejuvenated, refreshed and restoredahhhh…. Instructors: Tina Franco and Jeffrey Duval. (summer 2007: this class being offered by Tina Franco only)
How does yoga registration work?
- Summer registration will be from May 31 to June 19.
- All interested participants must register for their desired yoga class(es) at the Center for Student Wellness.
- Registration fees ($40 per 8-week section cash or check only) must be paid at the time of registration.
- If the office is closed when you come to drop off payment, check or cash can be left in the secure lock box on the Center’s door. In this event you will be notified of receipt of payment within one business day after which you can return to the office to pick up class tickets.
- Any classes that do not meet minimum registration will be canceled
What is the Class Ticket Policy?
- A book of tickets will be issued at time of payment.
- It is the participant’s responsibility to provide the instructor with one ticket at the start of every class. Yoga class participation will not be permitted without a valid ticket.
- The Wellness Works! program is unable to issue refunds or replacements in the event that tickets are lost or stolen.
- Unused tickets are not eligible for refund or transfer.
When and where are the yoga classes held?
Summer 2007 classes will be held on:
- Tuesday 5:30 - 6:45pm Vinyasa Yoga with Tina
- Thursday 6:30 - 7:45pm Vinyasa Yoga with Tina
Yoga classes are 75 minutes long.
All yoga classes will take place in the Riverview Lounge. The Riverview Lounge is located on the 4th floor of the Hammer Health Sciences Building at the northwest corner Ft. Washinton Ave. and 168th Street
What are the Summer 2007 class meeting dates?
Tuesday classes will meet on:
- June 26
- July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
- August 7, 14
Thursday classes will meet on:
- June 28
- July 5, 12, 19, 26
- August 2, 9, 16
