Student Health Service maintains the highest standards of confidentiality
in accordance with ethical professional standards and in full compliance with statutory and regulatory
requirements, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accessibility Act (HIPAA).
Medical Records
SHS collects and stores personal health information on health sciences students in its own independent
medical records system. SHS medical records are not accessible to anyone other than SHS staff who are
directly involved in providing your health care without your specific written permission in advance.
SHS medical records are not shared with the records or personnel of New York Presbyterian Hospital or
any other entity.
