Student Health Service maintains the highest standards of confidentiality in accordance with ethical
professional standards and in full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, including
the Health Insurance Portability and Accessibility Act (HIPAA).
No medical information is shared with the CUMC schools, family, or friends without your written request and consent.
Medical Records
SHS collects and stores personal health information on health sciences students in its own independent
medical records system. Unless we have your specific written permission, SHS medical records are not
accessible to anyone other than SHS staff who are directly involved in providing your health care.
SHS medical records are not shared with the records or personnel of New York Presbyterian Hospital and are not
accessible to them electronically.
