HOW DO I APPLY?
To establish eligibility for loans, grants, and scholarships to finance your education, you must complete certain application materials. Once our office has your information, we can begin to determine your eligibility for need-based loans and, if your need is great enough, for other low-interest loans, grants, and scholarships from P&S or CDM. If you do not qualify for need-based aid, you may wish to consider and apply for "alternative" loans (loans which accrue interest from the time of disbursement).
As a new student, you should complete the "Aid Type Request" form first. This form allows you to indicate what type of financial aid you want consideration for. The type of financial aid you indicate on this form will determine which documents you need to complete for the financial aid application process. You should read through the Financial Aid Handbook for a list of required documents for your particular Aid Type Request.
It is your responsibility to file the appropriate application forms, and to follow up if aid you expect to receive is not awarded, or has not been disbursed. Remember to keep copies of all your application materials! You should begin with the FAFSA form to determine eligibility for Federal Funding; the appropriate school codes to list are:
FAFSA SCHOOL CODES: Medicine E00117, Dentistry E00119
It is your responsibility to promptly notify our office should any change occur in your family's financial circumstances from those which were originally reported and used as the basis for determination of eligibility for various types of financial aid. This includes your marriage prior to our during the award period. Your Financial Aid Officer will review changes in family circumstances throughout the year to determine if there is a change in eligibility for funds.
In addition, you are obligated to notify us about any new income (scholarships, personal loans, etc.) that becomes available after filing your applications. This obligation extends throughout the 2009-10 academic year. You are also required to report anticipated income from external sources (private foundations, state, county or federal agencies, veteran's benefits, Social Security benefits, etc.)
Please review the guidelines for eligibility and application materials listed in our Handbooks that pertain to you.
