APPOINTMENTS


SHARON L. WARDLAW, M.D., has been named the Dr. Robert C. and Veronica Atkins Professor of Obesity Research in the Department of Medicine.

New Lectureship

The Herbert Spiegel Lectureship at Columbia University Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry has been created to honor Herbert Spiegel, M.D., for his outstanding past and current contributions in the field of psychiatry and mind-body medicine. Dr. Spiegel will give the inaugural lecture, “The Neural Trance: A New Look at Hypnosis” on June 9, from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the New York State Psychiatric Institute, 1051 Riverside Drive, 1st Floor Auditorium.

New Named Professorship

Columbia University's Board of Trustees has approved the establishment of the Claire Tow Professorship of Motor Neuron Disorders. Thomas Jessell, Ph.D., professor of biochemistry and molecular biophysics, has been appointed the Claire Tow Professor of Motor Neuron Disorders (in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics) in the Center for Neurobiology and Behavior.
