Transplant History

The Pediatric Heart Transplant Program celebrated its 25th anniversary on Nov. 8, 2009, with a reunion of more than 150 guests, including many transplant recipients and their families. The anniversary marks the first successful heart transplant in a child, performed at Columbia in June 1984.

In April 2010, NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia celebrated the milestone of 3,000 kidney transplants. The April 21 event, titled Circle for Life Renal 3000, was held in the Armory at 168th Street and Fort Washington and honored transplant recipients and donors.
