Helen Taylor Dexterof Belleair, Fla., one of the first female physicians and dermatologists in Clearwater, Fla., died Sept. 20, 2011. She celebrated her 103rd birthday this year with a cruise around Clearwater Harbor and was featured in the Aug. 3, 2011, issue of the St. Petersburg Times. The newspaper also published an article in 2008 about her 100th birthday. She was born July 28, 1908, and worked as an archaeologist before entering P&S. She graduated in 1937. “Dr. Dexter traveled to the Antarctic at the age of 95,” the newspaper article said. “Perhaps that’s the secret to her longevity; she’s always looking forward to her next adventure.” Read her online obituary.
