Shu Chien

Shu Chien was one of seven researchers who received National Medal of Science awards from President Obama during a ceremony at the White House in October 2011. The award is the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on scientists. Read the announcement here. Dr. Chien was honored for his “pioneering work in cardiovascular physiology and bioengineering, which has had tremendous impact in the fields of microcirculation, blood rheology and mechanotransduction in human health and disease.”
