Dear P&S Readers,

We have just completed two of our most anticipated events each year: commencement and alumni reunion weekend. Commencement celebrates the educational pathways our students have traveled and launches them into a wide range of careers. The alumni reunion weekend that precedes commencement gives us an opportunity to welcome back alumni from near and far, in terms of both geography and time.
Although the reunion involves a good deal of reminiscing and celebration, it also emphasizes the remarkable loyalty of our alumni and how much they care about P&S. At this year’s reunion, I talked about some of our ambitious plans for physical growth and redevelopment, including a project already begun to transform the lower level of our library into a new education center. Students and faculty have been involved in the planning and enthusiastically await its completion. Other elements of our space planning goals, including a new Bard Hall, will be presented in coming issues.
Our stellar students deserve state-of-the-art facilities in which to live, study, learn, and train. Seeing students graduate with competence and confidence — only days after greeting alumni who returned to celebrate the accomplishments and pride of careers seeded by P&S — has strengthened our resolve to optimize the extraordinary experiences our unique medical school offers.

With best wishes,
