P&S Student a Smash at Squash

First-year P&S student A. Martin (Marty) Clark Jr. won the men's division title of this year's U.S. squash championships held Feb. 13-17 in Newport, R.I. Mr. Clark faced and defeated opponents in three rounds before his final match against Richard A. Chin, a Cornell graduate.

Mr. Clark, a Harvard graduate from McLean, Va., also won the title in 1995. (The tournament-the S.L. Green Championships-is named after New York City real estate developer Steve Green, who donated money to start the event in 1990.)

Mr. Clark's world ranking is No. 59, the highest ever for an American player. He continues to compete in tournaments while attending P&S and is looking forward to playing the South American Tour this summer.

Mr. Clark, a member of the USA squash team that won silver and bronze medals at the 1995 Pan American Games, participates in the PowerBar elite athlete program and is a Team HEAD athlete.
