P&S Journal: Winter 1996, Vol.16, No.1
New Home Medical Giode Published
A new revision of the "P&S Complete Home Medical Guide," written by P&S physicians and specialists and published by Crown Publishers, appeared in bookstores in October.
This revision, the second since the guide's first appearance in 1985, represents a fundamentally new publication. Each chapter has been rewritten to reflect current trends in diagnosis and treatment, and alternative therapies and self-treatment are given new emphasis. The illustrations have been brought up-to-date, and the volume as a whole has been redesigned.
The guide was the first of a series of medical reference books designed to provide readers "with a comprehensive home reference that teaches you about your body in sickness and health," say the editors in the foreword. Aside from the "Home Medical Guide," P&S has produced volumes on pregnancy, mental health, and early child care.
|List price is $50. Proceeds from sales of all four volumes in the series benefit scholarship funds at P&S. The four books have generated $200,000 for scholarships.|
