Our programs in infectious diseases help infants, children and adolescents with acute or chronic bacterial, viral, parasitic or fungal infections or prevention of such infections including prophylaxis and vaccines.

Internationally renowned as leaders in infectious disease diagnosis, treatment and research, our team is expert in using antiviral therapy and in managing varicella-zoster virus, herpes simplex, and respiratory syncytial virus infections.

Our physicians bring a depth of experience to treating the following conditions, among others:

  • congenital or neonatal viral infections
  • complicated pneumonia
  • endocarditis
  • Fever of unknown origin
  • infections in immunocompromised children with cancer and organ transplants
  • osteomyelitis
  • tuberculosis

Our doctors also are skilled in treating patients with antibiotic -resistant conditions.

We serve as consultants for such prominent organizations as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Food and Drug s Administration, and the National Institutes of Health.

We have established a clinical research program that allows us to collaborate with researchers in other specialties. In addition, our infectious disease team participates in the Clinical Immunization Safety Assessment Network, whose goal is to improve the scientific understanding of vaccine safety and evaluate any adverse effects following immunization.
