International Health Organization (IHO)

The mission of the International Health Organization (IHO) is to increase interest in and exposure to international health at CUMC by providing a forum for the interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and opportunities. To facilitate its mission, the IHO hosts speakers and events on a regular basis intended to broaden awareness of world health issues, careers in global health, and international experiences for students in the health sciences.
 
IHO is a collaborative organization with members from: Dental, Nursing, P&S and Public Health schools. Throughout the year, IHO hosts events to broaden awareness of global health issues, career opportunities, and international experiences for health sciences students.
Popular events hosted by the IHO include:
 
Global Health Career Rounds
·         Professionals from diverse fields including government, patient care, public health, and research will discuss career options, personal career paths and address student questions about incorporating an interest in global health with various career fields.  It will be an interactive event where students will have a finite time to interact with professionals before rotating to the next group

Student-Faculty Global Health Meet & Greet
·         Students and faculty from across the CUMC, gather to discuss engaging global health issues. The reception includes an international buffet.

Global Experience Pre-Departure Symposium
·         Open to all CUMC students participating in summer programs, fellowships, and projects and/or study abroad opportunities, the International Health Organization (IHO) hosts an annual event to provide students with valuable information on traveling and working abroad. Students have the ability to network with faculty and peers involved in global health.
