| This year's CPMC Neighborhood Fund granted $75,900 to community-based agencies providing services in the Washington Heights-Inwood neighborhood. The 57 recipients accepted awards at a ceremony this spring in the Faculty Club. Ivy Fairchild, director of community affairs, presented Special Service Awards to, from left, Ruth Mendin, representing Explorer Post 280 Dreamers; Carlos Estrada, executive director of the Washington Heights Business Improvement District and Explorer troop master; and Edwin Martinez, Explorer. Explorer Post 280 Dreamers, a scout program for boys and girls ages 14 and older, will use the funds for its young entrepreneurs program. Mr. Estrada and Mr. Martinez represented the Law Enforcement Explorer Post 334, a division of the Boy Scouts that provides security services and crime prevention in the community. The Neighborhood Fund is made possible by the voluntary efforts of and contributions from employees, faculty, and staff throughout CPMC, as well as special fund-raising events. More information about the Neighborhood Fund is available by calling 781-2100, ext. 251. |
