It's Official: GWHS's Health Clinic Opens
George Washington High School's health clinic finally had its grand opening after providing medical and mental health services to approximately 2,000 students since November 1994. The clinic is one of five New York City school-based programs run in collab oration with Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Health Sciences, and the Community Health and Education Program (CHEP) of the Center for Population and Family Health. The grand opening celebrated the clinic's renovated facility and allowed student s and local politicians the opportunity to tour the space and learn more about its offerings.
The clinic's goal is to provide primary health care to students who might not have other options due to financial or logistical constraints. In addition to routine health care, the clinic provides prenatal care, sports medicine, AIDS education, and menta l health services. CPMC health care providers staff the clinic.
