Decorations Brighten Intensive Care Unit
Dr. Howard Zucker, assistant professor of pediatrics and of anesthesiology at P&S, visits a patient in the newly redecorated 14-bed pediatric intensive care unit at Babies and Children's Hospital. The decorations include colorful artwork, curtains, mobiles, and furniture designed to make the unit "more friendly to children and parents," Dr. Zucker says. The project took a year to plan and was completed in January after 12 weeks of construction. Its $200,000 pricetag was paid by proceeds from the James Taylor benefit concert in September 1993 and donations from families of children who have received care at the unit, the Associates of Babies and Children's Hospital of New York, and numerous CPMC faculty and staff.
