Women's Resource center Opens
A ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 19 marked the grand opening of the CPMC Women's Resource Center in the Energy Court. Ruth Messinger, Manhattan borough president, spoke on "Women Working Together." The ribbon was cut by Nancy Rupp, wife of Columbia President George Rupp, and Dr. Phoebe Speck, wife of Presbyterian Hospital President William T. Speck. The Women's Resource Center was created by women and men interested in the excellence of health care research and delivery by and for women. The center sponsors programs that facilitate communication among faculty, staff, and students throughout the Columbia Health Sciences and the Medical Center. Brown-bag luncheons held the second Wednesday of each month are promoted by posters. The center is organizing a mentoring program. Details may be requested from the center or from Dr. Anne Bernstein, co-director of the Women's Resource Center and P&S clinical professor of psychiatry. The location in the Energy Court will centralize the center's efforts to broaden its programs throughout the Medical Center.
