Neighborhood Fund Awards
The CPMC Neighborhood Fund presented awards to 60 community organizations during the seventh annual awards ceremony in September. More than $72,000 was raised during the Neighborhood Fund campaign.
Discovery Rooms for Children and Fort Washington Houses Services for the Elderly earned this year's Special Service Awards in recognition of outstanding contributions to the community.
Discovery Rooms for Children offers Washington Heights residents a preschool program, informal child care referral services, child care exchange networks, and afterschool, summer day camp, lunch, adult education, and youth programs.
Fort Washington Houses Services for the Elderly meets a wide variety of needs for area senior citizens. Its Community Caregiving program, a combined effort of community and city-wide agencies, provides services for memory-impaired individuals and their caregivers.
The Neighborhood Fund is made possible by contributions from administrators, faculty, and staff throughout CPMC (Columbia, Presbyterian, and Psychiatric Institute) and special fund-raising events. Contributions are accepted year-round. Information is available from Jean Armitage, Neighborhood Fund officer, at 781-2100.
