Highlighting Dr. Gershon’s work on digestive disorders, the book is described as the culmination of 30 years of research.
Contagion and Confinement: Controlling Tuberculosis along the Skid Road Dr. Barron H. Lerner, Angelica Berrie Gold Foundation Assistant Professor of Medicine and Public Health, has written “Contagion and Confinement: Controlling Tuberculosis along the Skid Road” (Johns Hopkins University Press). Dr. Lerner became infected with tuberculosis while completing his medical training in the 1980s. The book examines the challenge of balancing the civil liberties of non-adherent tuberculosis patients with protection of the public’s health.
Helping the Hard-Core Smoker: A Clinician’s Guide Dr. Daniel F. Seidman, assistant clinical professor of medical psychology, and Dr. Lirio S. Covey, associate professor of clinical psychology, have edited “Helping the Hard-Core Smoker: A Clinician’s Guide” (Lawrence Erlbaum Associates). Dr. Seidman is the director of smoking cessation services at the Behavioral Medicine Program, and Dr. Covey is a research scientist at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. Dr. Covey is also the co-director of the Smoking Cessation Clinic at the New York State Psychiatric Institute.
