The School of Dental and Oral Surgery has opened the Dental Consultation and Implant Center in the Vanderbilt Clinic, ninth floor, Room 210. The center formally opened Sept. 26 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The center allows patients the ease of visiting with multiple specialists all in one location, at one appointment. Patients with multiple or complex problems can be evaluated and then scheduled with the appropriate clinician for treatment. This eliminates the need for patients to go from one office appointment to another for diagnosis and treatment. Patients requiring dental implants can be evaluated in the new center and then assigned to a practitioner within the school for treatment. The consultation center is staffed by division heads, program directors, and senior faculty.
Dr. Jon F. Ackerman, SDOS assistant professor of clinical dentistry, is director. "The center is a unique and exciting resource that aims to assist the dental community by providing the highest level of care to our patients,"says Dr. Ackerman. Further information on the center is available by calling 305-9532 (ext. 69532).
