APPOINTMENTS
Spencer Amory, M.D., division chief, general surgery, has been named the Jose M. Ferrer Clinical Professor of Surgery. Dr. Amory has been a Columbia faculty member since 1989 and is credited with introducing laparoscopic general surgery to CUMC.
John Bilezikian, M.D., professor of pharmacology, chief of the endocrinology division and director of the metabolic bone diseases program, has been appointed Dorothy L. and Daniel H. Silberberg Professor of Medicine. Dr. Bilezikian, a graduate of P&S and a faculty member since 1975, is internationally known for his research on metabolic bone diseases, particularly in the areas of osteoporosis and primary hyperparathyroidism.
William B. Macaulay Jr., M.D., professor of clinical orthopedic surgery and director, Center for Hip and Knee Replacement, has been named the first Anne Youle Stein Professor of Clinical Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Macaulay, a 1992 P&S graduate and a faculty member since 1999, is one of the nation’s leaders in hip and knee replacement and hip resurfacing.
Michael Sisti, M.D., co-director of the Center for Radiosurgery, has been named the first James G. McMurtry Associate Professor of Clinical Neurological Surgery (in Otolaryngology/Head/Neck Surgery).
