Pediatric Researcher Awarded $200,000 Pollin Prize John A. Clements, MD, of UCSF, received the 2008 Pollin Prize for Research in Pediatrics for his contributions to pediatric pulmonary research and neonatal critical care. The prize, the largest international award for pediatric research, recognizes outstanding achievement in biomedical or public health research resulting in important improvements to the health of children. Half the award will be provided by Dr. Clements to support the research of an investigator of his choice. “It is our intent that this prize both recognizes outstanding and important biomedical research and encourages others to pursue research that specifically benefits children,” says Rudolph Leibel, MD, professor of pediatrics and medicine and co-director of the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center, who is the chairman of the selection committee. The awards ceremony took place April 4 at Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital of NYPH.
