Using the Outlook Web App
Using Outlook via the web, you can do most of the tasks as you would on your workstation. You can access e-mail, calendar, and contacts after you log on to the Outlook Web App.
To use the Outlook Web App, follow these steps.
Step 1: Using an internet browser, go to https://mail.cumc.columbia.edu/owa. (If your browser displays a security alert click OK).
Note: In this help page, Internet Explorer is used.
Step 2: Select This is a private computer (if the computer is not public).
Enter "mc\<Your UNI>" in Domain\user name field, your Exchange account password in the Password field, and then click Log On.

Note:the Outlook Web App works best with Internet Explorer. If you use FireFox, Opera, or any other browser you can only use Outlook Web App Light. If you use any other browser other than Internet Explorer, Outlook Web App Light is selected by default. Outlook Web App Light does not give you access to Tasks, Documents and a few navigation features.
Step 3: Outlook displays in your web browser. Click Inbox in the left navigation to access your e-mails. You can also access other Outlook functions like Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Documents, and Public Folders.

Step 4: To close Outlook Web App, select the sign out link in the upper right corner of the screen.

Step 5: Outlook Web App will prompt you to close the browser window for security purposes. Click OK to close your browser. (If your browser displays an alert, click Yes to close the browser window).
Changing Your Password
You should always change the password for your Exchange account by using the myPassword web site.
- If you haven't already set up security questions on myPassword, see the instructions here.
- To change your password now, go to https://mypassword.cumc.columbia.edu/. You will have to login with your Columbia UNI account first.
- For additional help on using myPassword click here.
IMPORTANT! Changing your CUMC IT Exchange (email and shared calendar) account password also changes your MC Domain (computer login) password. They are the same account. It will not change your Columbia UNI account password.
