Applications and Software
At most locations, computers have a number of software programs installed that allow for web browsing, word processing, data analysis, chart, graphic, and presentation creation, image editing, CD burning, network file transfers, and curriculum support. Library Resource systems (in the Lobby alcove area) have only basic web browsing programs installed on them.

All but the Library Resource systems (in the Lobby alcove area) will allow you to burn CDs and use a personal USB key. To transfer over the network, please see this FAQ.

Network and wireless
Wireless network access and data ports for laptop computers are available at the Library and PH17 so students can connect their personal computers to the CUMC network.
NOTE: you must register your computer for wired access. For wireless access anywhere on the CUMC campus, you must first configure your computer before you will be able to connect. Please see our wireless page for complete information and instructions.

Technical Support
The CUMC IT Service Desk is also located on the 2nd floor of the Library. Staff at the Service Desk can provide initial troubleshooting for computer problems, and answer questions regarding technical resources on campus. Students can purchase CDs, USB keys, printing pages, and other items here as well.

Reserving Computer Classrooms
The Computer Classroom and PH17 Labs can be reserved for a variety of classes, including those specific to CUMC academic programs. Anyone wishing to reserve either location must submit the Classroom Reservations form online, or contact Classroom Management with any questions. Academic programs are given priority use of these resources. A calendar for the Computer Classroom detailing reserved times can be found posted to the right of its main door.

Noise Level and Food and Drink Policies:

We realize that there are a variety of environments in which people prefer to work at different times. To accommodate this, there are designated computing areas for different uses:

  • Food and Drink
The Computer Lounge on the 1st floor and the E-Lounge on the 2nd floor allow you to have food and drink while you are using the computers. All other areas do not allow food and drink at any time, including the PH17 Student Computing Lab and the Library. Anyone found with food and drink will be asked to move to an approved area immediately.
Please help us keep the computer equipment safe from spills and in operable use for everyone by respecting these restrictions!
  • Noise Levels and Cell Phone Use
The E-Lounge on the 2nd floor of the Library is designated as a group study area with talking allowed.
All other computing areas are unrestricted, but we ask that you limit conversation and phone use to low levels and short conversations, with the understanding that others near you are working and may be distracted.
