Mercury Secure Wireless

Faculty, staff and students can use Mercury secure wifi when in range on the CUMC campus.

Connecting to Mercury
If your endpoint (computer or mobile device) has already completed initial registration and set up, you can simply select Mercury from its list of wireless networks.

Otherwise you can easily register and set up your endpoint by following the brief steps below, or select a link in the left to use detailed instructions for your specific type of computer or device.
NOTE: For Android devices we highly recommend following step by step instructions.

IMPORTANT: Mercury set up will enforce CUMC security policies on the endpoint, including requiring a password or PIN. If a password/PIN is over 180 days old, it will prompt to update it.

  1. Close any open programs on the endpoint, and make sure you know the admin password or PIN for it. If not please contact your Certified IT Group to set up Mercury for you.
  2. Visit http://www.cumc.columbia.edu/it/mercury and log in to the online form using your UNI account. If registering from off-campus, you must be connected to VPN to reach the form.
  3. Follow prompts to automatically set up the computer/device for Mercury.

Once these initial registration steps are completed successfully, the device will automatically connect to Mercury when in range. If you have any problems please try the full instructions for your computer or device type.

Annual Registration
Any device that has already registered must re-register before one year has passed.
  • The device's registering UNI account will be sent an automatic email reminder two weeks before registration expires.
  • Simply log in to the Register Your Device website (VPN required if not on campus) using your UNI account, then follow any prompts that appear to update Mercury settings.
