Macintosh OS 10.8 Mountain Lion & 10.7 Lion - Connecting to Athens
Athens is the primary wireless network at CUMC, currently available at specific locations. Connecting to Athens requires that your computer be specially configured, and that you log on to the network with your Columbia UNI account.
Configuring Athens on Your Macintosh Computer
- Click here to download the NYP Enterprise Athens Mobile Configuration file and select Download Linked File or Save Link As. When prompted, browse to any desired location on your computer and click Save.
NOTE: You can delete the downloaded file once you have finished configuring Athens.
- Browse to the file’s location and double-click on the nyp_enterprise_v1_athens_only.mobileconfig icon.
- Your Lion computer’s Profiles window will open. Select the Continue button.

- A warning message asking Are you sure you want to install profile “NYP Enterprise Lion Athens Only”? will appear. Select the Continue button.
- The next window will ask you to Enter settings for the Wi-fi network “athens”. Type your Columbia UNI in the Username field, and your UNI’s password in the Password field.

- Select the Install button to continue.
- Type in your Lion computer’s administrative password at the next prompt reading Configuration Profile Tool wants to make changes... and click OK. The installation of the Athens Mobile Configuration will complete.
- To connect to Athens, go into the computer’s System Preferences - Network settings.
- Select Wi-fi from the list on the left side of the Network window, then click the Connect button near the center of the window, to the right of the 802.1X: Wi-Fi (athens): heading.

- The Wi-fi status will change to Connected. Open Safari or another web browser and visit the NYPH Infonet intranet site to test that you have connected securely: http://infonet.nyp.org
To use Athens in the future, you can select it from the AirPort icon in the upper right corner of your computer’s screen when you are in range of one of the Athens wireless access points.
