Reset Wireless Password Information on Apple Equipment

ANNOUNCEMENT

Athens wireless is being decommissioned in June at all locations.
It will be removed from the 168th St campus June 25th, and earlier in other locations.
Please make sure you are using Mercury secure wireless
on all computers and devices to avoid loss of connectivity when Athens is removed.

Apple equipment may "cache" or save your wireless credentials and use old password information when trying to connect to a Wi-Fi network you've used before. If you are no longer able to connect to Athens or Mercury secure wireless after changing your UNI password or are simply experiencing problems connecting to either, follow instructions below to to completely remove the wireless profile from your equipment's settings.

Reset Your Wireless Password on Macintosh
  1. Click on the Apple icon in the upper left of the computer screen and select System Preferences from the drop-down menu.
  2. Select the Profiles icon, which may be located under the System heading.

  3. Highlight the profile you'd like to remove in the left side of the window under the User Profiles heading by clicking on it once. Athens is typically listed as NYP Enterprise... while Mercury will appear as Device Enrollment. When the profile is selected you'll see details about it listed in the right side of the window.

  1. When the profile you'd like to remove is highlighted, click the - (minus) button in the lower left.
  2. Select Remove when prompted to confirm that you'd like to remove the profile, then type in your computer's administrative password at the next prompt to complete its removal.
    If needed, repeat to remove other Athens/NYP Enterprise or Device Enrollment/Mercury profiles that may be listed.
  3. To reinstall secure wireless on the Mac follow instructions for Mercury set up.
Reset Your Wireless Password on an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch
  1. To make sure your device doesn't remember the network, open Settings, select Wi-Fi, then click on the network you'd like to remove (athens or mercury) from the list.
  2. Click on the link to Forget this Network. You may need to select the name of the network from the Wi-Fi list in the right first.

  3. Return to the main Settings screen. Select General, then Profiles.
  4. Tap the network's profile to select it:
    • Athens may be listed as Athens (CUMC), or NYP Enterprise, or it may list both
    • Mercury will be listed as Device Enrollment
  5. Click the Remove button; if prompted, click Remove again and enter the PIN or password for your device.

  6. If needed, repeat the last few steps to remove additional profiles for Athens or Mercury. You will only need to remove profile(s) for the wifi network(s) that began having issues after changing your UNI password.
  7. Exit Settings and follow instructions to install Mercury secure wireless.
