To ensure that email addressed to your general Columbia email address (youruni@columbia.edu) is delivered to your Exchange account, you must set up UNI mail forwarding.
Select the link on the right under the Related Information heading for UNI Mail Forwarding.
You will be prompted to login; use your Columbia UNI and its password.
Near the bottom of the UNI Mail Forwarding page, type your full CUMC IT Exchange email address into the I want to forward my mail to: field.
The format for most CUMC IT Exchange email addresses is youruni@cumc.columbia.edu, where youruni is your Columbia University ID; the full Exchange email address will be given to you when the account is created.
If you would like to keep any copies of email sent to your Columbia email account, check the box to the right of I also want to deliver to my Columbia mailbox. Otherwise, leave the box empty or de-check it to only receive messages in your Exchange (Outlook) mailbox.
NOTE: If you keep copies in your Columbia mailbox, you must log into CubMail periodically to clean out messages, or you may go over the quota on your Columbia email account.
Select the Update My Mail Forwarding button at the bottom of the page. You will see a message that your forwarding will take approximately 15 minutes to begin.
Select the Log out link at the bottom of the UNI Mail Forwarding page.
Once forwarding takes effect, any emails addressed to your @columbia.edu address will automatically be sent to your CUMC IT Exchange account.
