Set Up an Android Device for CUMC IT Exchange
CUMC IT Exchange accounts allow departments at to use Microsoft's robust email and calendaring systems via Outlook. Android smartphones such as the Motorola Droid, HTC and Samsung Galaxy may also be configured for an Exchange account, so your email and calendar(s) can be viewed and accessed from your phone. NOTE: The steps for setting up Exchange can vary greatly between different models of Android based phones. We've included some basic instructions here, however you may need to consult the phone's manual for step by step instructions to configure for an Exchange account.
- Access the Exchange settings through one of the following series of selections on your Android device:
- Applications - My Accounts - Add Account - Corporate Sync Settings
- Settings - Accounts & Sync Settings - Add Account - Corporate
- Fill in the appropriate settings that appear in your phone:
- Domain\username: mc\youruni
Type in your actual Columbia UNI rather than youruni (ex: abc1234).
NOTE: The Domain and Username may appear in different fields depending on your phone model; if so enter mc in the Domain field and your UNI in the username field.
- Password: type in the password you use for your Exchange email. It should be the same as your mc domain (computer login) password.
- Use secure connection: check this option
- Email address: youruni@cumc.columbia.edu
- Server: mail.cumc.columbia.edu
- Once the settings are configured, your phone will try to connect to the CUMC IT Exchange server. If successful you will be able to read and send your work email messages on the phone.
