Set Up Your CUMC Email

Your CUMC email can be configured in most email programs and apps simply by selecting the option to add an account (you may need to specify "Exchange" as the type of account), then entering: iPhone Exchange Settings

  • Your FULL CUMC email address: uni@cumc.columbia.edu
    (substitute your own, individual UNI instead of uni)
  • Your CUMC email password
The program should then automatically discover all other settings it needs, and open your account. If you were able to set up your email this way, that's great! But keep reading to be sure you won't run in to issues using your CUMC email and all available features.

Compatible Email Programs
Outlook version 2016 for Windows and Macintosh and Outlook 2013 on Windows are the only fully supported email programs. They are part of the Microsoft Office Suite that is available for free to current CUMC faculty, staff and students.

While other commonly used programs can typically connect to your CUMC email account, they may not be compatible with all features or have known issues. Outlook offers the best compatibility with the CUMC email system.

Before setting up your email make sure you have followed Getting Started steps on the main Email at CUMC page to verify your account was created, has security questions for instant password management, and has mail forwarding from your virtual uni@columbia.edu address.
