Update Your MC/Email Password on Android

If you recently changed or reset the password for your MC domain (computer login) or CUIMC email password, Android phones and tablets that have stored the old email password in a Mail or Outlook app should automatically prompt you to enter the new one. In some cases it may take a short period of time (15-20 minutes) before the device will notice and show an error message.

Instructions

Sign in prompt at the bottom of Outlook app

Follow any prompts to resolve login issues - which should include entering the new password - and make sure you can connect and send messages again. If you still cannot, try instructions to unlock your account and use more detailed steps below.

  1. Make sure your Android device has a working wifi or cellular connection. You can test this by opening a web page.
  2. Open the app used for your CUIMC email account:
    • Outlook app - look for a sign in error near the bottom of the screen and follow prompts to enter your changed password.
    • Mail/Email/Gmail app - look for an error or prompt to sign in and follow any instructions. They should include entering your changed password.
  3. Your CUIMC email should connect and resume as usual.
    • If you do not see an error, continue to the next step.
You can also try instructions to manually update the password in the Mail or Outlook app, though current devices may not have the option to do so.
    • If the new password you entered does not work or you still cannot connect to your CUIMC email, make sure your account has not been locked, then continue with the next step.
  4. Restart your Android device.
  5. If you are still not able to update your password or connect see instructions to Remove Your CUIMC Email on Android, then follow current instructions to set it back up on the device.

Additional Help

If the steps above do not work you can try to manually update your password using older instructions linked under Related Articles on this page.  Note that current Android devices and email apps may not have an option in their settings to change the password manually; instructions may only work on older devices that have not recently updated their OS or app version.
