Request an Account or Access

Many of the programs and services you'll need to use require approval for access. We've compiled a list of these resources so you can easily find out how to request access.

  • UNI and Columbia Email - the University Network I. D. is the first part of your Columbia email address and acts as your logon for a variety of resources. This includes myColumbia, where you can view and manage payroll and benefit information.
    • If you already know your UNI, you can activate it and select a password at myUNI.
    • If you have not yet received your UNI, first search for it by your name at myUNI.
    • If you do not have a UNI, your Department Administrator (or other qualified person in your department) must request one for you via their access to Delegated Identity Administration within Peoplesoft. Please speak to your supervisor if you do not know who this person is. Often the person within a department who can post job listings has access to process UNIs.
    • Exchange - new Exchange email accounts for the Medical Center are temporarily unavailable. Please click here for more information about Exchange.
  • Logon to a Department Computer - It's best to check with your supervisor or Department Administrator first, since some CUMC departments have systems that are managed by their own IT groups.
If your computer is managed by CUMC IT, your supervisor can submit the Domain Account request form online. You must already have a Columbia UNI it order to receive a Domain Account.
  • Access to Network Drives - Your department can grant you access to any CUMC IT managed network drives via the Domain Account request form as well. Complete information including the drive letter and path is required when submitting the form.
  • Oracle Calendar - CUMC's administrative calendar program is used by many departments. For access please submit the Oracle Calendar request form, you must already have received your UNI account.
  • VPN - an active UNI account and password will work with VPN. For download and installation please see the VPN web site.
  • Peoplesoft - your active UNI and password will give you access to myColumbia where you can view your benefits and other HR related information. You must change your UNI password every 3 months for continued access.
  • Peoplesoft Manager Self Service/Human Resources Management System - Department Administrators and other qualified people within each department can manage HR information via the Manager Self Service module within Peoplesoft.
For MSS access, please see the instructions and online form at: https://wwwa.ais.columbia.edu/sws/psoft/index.html.
