The CUMC IT Service Desk provides this license as a service to the Columbia University Medical Center community. Potential licensees should refer to the policies regarding SAS and SPSS licensing at CUMC. Whenever possible, the Service Desk will answer questions about the installation and use of SAS. However, the licensee is responsible for the installation and for understanding and maintaining his/her own hardware and operating system.
Cost, Payment, and Dates
The current dates of the license are 9/1/08 through 8/31/09. The price is fixed by SAS and will not be pro-rated. The software will not run after the license expires.
All new licensees and those choosing to upgrade to a newer version of SAS require an installation kit. The installation kit for SAS 9.2 consists of a DVD at a cost of $30; installation kits for SAS 9.1.3 consist of a binder of CDs and instruction booklets at a cost of $95. This cost is in addition to the cost of the license(s). For example, the total cost of one new 9.1.3 license is $291 ($195 + $95) for faculty and staff, or $221 ($125 + $95) for students.
Faculty and staff:
Faculty and staff may pay using a Columbia University FAS account, submitted at the time the order is placed; or by cash, credit card, or check made out to "Columbia University".

NOTE: Unix machines are priced by the number of CPUs in the computer rather than by licenses. The number of CPUs depends on the make and model of the Unix box you are using. You must provide us with that information in order for us to determine the price for the license. The cost is $575 per CPU. In addition, server pricing for any platform will be calculated by the number of CPUs.
Students:
The cost is $125 per license for students who are using SAS for their own research. University funds may not be used for this discount.
Any student purchasing an installation kit for a new install of SAS 9.1.3 must add $96 to their order for the cost of the kit. SAS 9.2 installation media is $30.
Students may pay by credit card, cash, or check made out to "Columbia University".
