Recommended Hardware Configurations for Faculty and Staff

The charts below provide recommendations for various hardware components of a laptop or desktop. If you will be using CUMC IT technicians for installation or support of a computer be sure to read about pre-tested CUMC IT Models that can be ordered.

  • In general, professional, non-consumer systems purchased recently (within the past year or two) will typically be equipped with recommended features.
  • Other configuration choices such as hard drive size, amount of memory and CPU speed should at least meet the minimum needs for the operating system and programs you plan to use and can therefore vary.
