CUMC IT Mission
  • Discover and Lead - Be a proactive partner helping CUMC innovate and differentiate among global peers.
  • Care - Serve the CUMC community by providing a seamless, highly-reliable infrastructure that is transparent to CUMC users.
  • Educate - Promote awareness of services and solutions to ensure technology is fully embraced by the CUMC community.

CUMC IT Vision 2010
By 2010, CUMC IT will be recognized throughout CUMC as strategic partner for having materially contributed to the advancement of CUMC's goal to be indisputably ranked in the top 5 and arguably the best in research, education, clinical care and public service. CUMC IT will develop tools to improve administrative processes; especially in the areas of human resources management, research administration and facilities management. Leaders throughout CUMC will actively seek to work with CUMC IT to develop and implement innovative technologies to help differentiate CUMC among its peers and position CUMC as a global leader.

Primary Objectives
  • Administrative Improvements
    • Human Resources
      Facilitate the flow of information to streamline the on-boarding process
    • Facilities
      Develop tools to help improve the management of service components Discover/link data of building plans, responsibilities, space inventory
    • Research
      Develop tools to improve the life cycle of research administration Initial priority is the account set-up process
  • Infrastructure
    • Technology Independence
      Design and install (on a pilot basis) a technology independent physical infrastructure.
    • Security
      Develop a risk assessment infrastructure to continually evaluate security and systems at CUMC.
  • Communication
    • Knowledge Management
      Design and / or select platform for knowledge management on CUMC intranet.
    • Unified Communications Platform
      Fax server, Voicemail to email, desktop videoconferencing
  • Education
    • IT in the Classroom
      Support implementation of new curriculum by defining the IT infrastructure necessary to support planned classroom renovations. Manage from central location vs. silos.
  • Clinical
    • EMR Project
      Support implementation of electronic medical record
  • Service Expectations
    • Develop a service catalog
    • Define service metrics for CUMC IT and develop system to measure and monitor
