The Virtual Private Network service provides an encrypted connection for your computer to connect to resources on the secured campus network from off-campus.
Service Description
VPN is a program that encrypts data before it is sent across a network. The program is required at CUMC in order to connect to on-campus resources from off-campus computers.
Connecting from off site with VPN requires additional information from your technical support group. If you will be connecting to a specific server or department drive, you must obtain assistance or instructions on how to configure the off site computer ahead of time.
VPN is required sensitive data traveling across public or other networks remains secure, in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Using the Service
The VPN program must be installed on the computer. After installing, you must login to VPN with you UNI and password whenever you would like to connect.

VPN access is automatically given to CUMC faculty, staff and students via their UNI to log in to VPN.
To request access for
a non-CUMC affiliate, you must contact the Department Administrator (DA) in the department that will be vouching for the business needs of connecting to CUMC resources.
Availability and Hours
This service is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Scheduled and emergency maintenance may require occasional downtime.
