Email accounts are provided for students and most full time faculty and staff at Columbia. These accounts are the official work and/or academic email address for Columbia correspondence. They can be checked via the CubMail online web based program or configured to use an email client. Exchange accounts are also available from CUMC IT for those who would like to use advanced features such as Calendar sharing with the CUMC community.
Service Description
The service includes automatic backups of mail stored on Cyrus servers, support for secure protocols for sending and retrieving mail, and extensive spam-filtering. The Cyrus Mail system stores mailboxes and provides for access using internet standards IMAP and POP. Almost any email program can be configured to access your Columbia email account.
Standard accounts have 250MB of storage space.
Exchange accounts can also be provided for a fee for those who would like to use Outlook's shared Calendar and other features with others in the CUMC community.

Requesting the Service
Columbia Email accounts are automatically given to qualifying faculty, staff and students. They become available within 2 hours of Activating your UNI.
To inquire about Columbia employed or enrolled faculty, staff or students who did were not able to activate an email account, please contact the CUMC IT Service Desk at extension 5-Help, option 5.
Availability and Hours
This service is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Scheduled and emergency maintenance may require occasional downtime.
Service Level Agreement
There is currently no defined SLA for this service. Any system-wide issues with this Service are treated as highest priority due to its importance for all Columbia faculty, staff and students.
