Email accounts are provided for students and most full time faculty and staff at Columbia. These accounts are the official work and/or academic email address for Columbia correspondence. They can be checked via the CubMail online web based program or configured to use an email client. Exchange accounts are also available from CUMC IT for those who would like to use advanced features such as Calendar sharing with the CUMC community.
The service includes automatic backups of mail stored on Cyrus servers, support for secure protocols for sending and retrieving mail, and extensive spam-filtering. The Cyrus Mail system stores mailboxes and provides for access using internet standards IMAP and POP. Almost any email program can be configured to access your Columbia email account, though Outlook is the only standard supported program by CUMC IT.
Exchange accounts can also be provided for a fee for those who would like to use Outlook's shared Calendar and other features with others in the CUMC community.
