Dell Lease Program
Service is for Faculty and Staff
CUMC IT has partnered with Dell Computer to allow departments on the CUMC campus to lease desktop and laptop computers. This program provides individual departments the ability to spread the cost of technology over a period of three years.

Service Description
Specific models of desktops and laptops can be leased for a 3 year period. Computers can arrive already imaged with standard software programs and business applications installed, all installed software is covered under CUMC site licenses. Some hardware configurations can be changed after receiving the leased systems (ex: more RAM installed) but must be changed back when the lease ends and the system is returned. No end of term buy out is possible.

Leasing insures that systems in the department are not too old to be compatible with current programs and technologies, and has been found to greatly reduce total cost of ownership. Services provided with the Dell lease can also include:

  • Imaging - licensed office productivity software and business applications are pre-installed
  • Data Migration/Transfer - files from current computers can be transferred to the leased system
  • De-installation - existing computers are removed and disposed of in compliance with HIPAA and environmental regulations
  • Asset Recovery
  • Installation - leased systems are set up at the on campus location and configured as needed for the CUMC employee.

Requesting the Service
To place an order, submit the online Dell Computer Lease Request Form.

Availability and Hours
Leased equipment availability depends on the department or office that owns it.
Technical support can be provided for leased computers as with normal support where it does not conflict any lease agreement.
Some departments at CUMC supply their own technical support, if the CUMC IT Service Desk isn't able to answer your questions or route an issue for you, a supervisor or administrator within the department should have current information on how to obtain assistance from these groups. This is true of both leased and fully owned computers.
