Rebecca Pearl, PhD

Dr. Pearl is an Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine. Dr. Pearl’s research focuses on the mental and physical health consequences of weight bias and stigma. Her work explores the effect of weight-stigmatizing media, personal experiences with weight bias, and internalized stigma on engagement in health behaviors and psychological well-being. Dr. Pearl is currently investigating psychosocial risk factors for internalizing weight bias, and potential interventions to prevent and reduce self-stigma among individuals with obesity.
