IHN Faculty and Staff overview

IHN Faculty

The Institute of Human Nutrition's many academic and research activities are directed by IHN Director Richard J. Deckelbaum, MD, FRCPC , the Robert R. Williams Professor of Nutrition (seen above, center), Nutritional and Metabolic Biology Doctoral Training (NMB) Program Director Debra Wolgemuth, PhD (seen at left) and MS Program Director Sharon Akabas, PhD (seen above, right).

IHN faculty include thirty-eight doctoral training faculty for the Nutritional and Metabolic Biology PhD Program of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, as well as eleven core faculty involved in the training of students in the Masters Program in Nutrition, several adjuncts and many guest lecturers drawn from the various schools of the Medical Center and the University, as well as from other academic and professional settings.

MS teaching faculty has diverse specialty training in nutrition and allied areas and provide close academic advisement. MS students are assigned an advisor who meets with students individually as well as in meetings with a small advisory group (10-12 students), at least twice a semester. IHN faculty researchers are at the cutting edge of their disciplines and provide deep and broad training and research opportunities for Masters, Doctoral and Postdoctoral trainees at the IHN

IHN staff members focus on coordinating the administrative functions supporting the various training programs of the Institute. These functions are handled by an experienced office team, available to assist faculty and students alike.
