Conducting Effective Performance Reviews

If you asked managers to describe the performance appraisal process, what would that word be?  "Grueling?"  "Tedious?"  "Anxiety-producing?"  However, the appraisal is an essential part of providing feedback to employees, and it offers a perfect opportunity to coach and motivate.  The key lies in the way you approach and conduct the review process.

  • Recognize the opportunity provided by the performance appraisal
  • Write an effective appraisal
  • Hold a successful performance review meeting
  • Handle challenging interchanges with employees during the meeting
  • Develop performance objectives and ensure follow-up
