Physician Summary

Dr. Halmos received his medical degree summa cum laude from Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary in 1992 and M.S. in Clinical Investigations degree from Harvard Medical School in 2003. He completed his medicine residency training at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center, New York City in 1998 and then went on to complete his hematology/oncology fellowship training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He served on the faculties of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School from 2001-2004 and University Hospitals of Cleveland/Case Western Reserve University from 2005-2009 prior to joining Columbia University in 2009. Dr. Halmos cares for patients with malignancies of the upper aerodigestive tract, principally lung and esophageal cancers. He currently is involved in patient care, clinical investigations in thoracic oncology and supervises a research laboratory focusing on the molecular biology of cancers of the upper aerodigestive tract.
